Attorneys

Housing Court

Housing Court is an excellent opportunity for attorneys looking for a meaningful, manageable pro bono commitment. Volunteers receive an orientation and ongoing support from our Housing Court team, and can serve as often as their schedules allow, whether monthly, quarterly, or even for a single court session.

Wills Clinics

Our Wills Clinics give attorneys the opportunity to provide direct legal assistance to clients who otherwise may not have access to estate planning services. Volunteers are provided with the necessary materials and support from our team, making this a straightforward and rewarding way to offer pro bono assistance.

Clinics are held periodically throughout the year, and attorneys can volunteer based on their availability. No ongoing commitment is required.

If you're interested in volunteering at a Wills Clinic, please contact lstribling@charlestonprobono.org.

Pro Bono Case Referrals

We refer eligible clients to volunteer attorneys for a range of civil legal matters, including family law, estate planning, housing, and other areas where representation can make a critical difference. Our team screens clients for eligibility and provides the information and support you need to determine whether a case is a good fit for your practice.

Whether you take one case a year or several, accepting a referral is a meaningful way to use your legal skills to help someone navigate a legal issue they may otherwise face alone.

If you're interested in receiving pro bono case referrals, please contact alietzow@charlestonprobono.org.

Law Students

Are you a student interested in pursuing a career in public interest law? Charleston Pro Bono offers students opportunities to volunteer, participate in legal clinics, and pursue fellowships throughout the year. For more information, please see our students page.

Fundraising Events

Our fundraising events are made possible by the many volunteers who help bring them to life. From welcoming guests and assisting with event logistics to supporting our art events and other fundraisers, there are plenty of ways to get involved.

Whether you have a few hours to give at one event or want to stay involved throughout the year, your time helps us raise critical funds to provide free legal services to our community.
